Measure once

Size & age guide

Every product page shows the size run for that specific garment. These charts tell you what those sizes actually measure, in inches, so you can check them against something you already own.

Step 01

Measure a garment, not a body

Lay a shirt that fits well flat on a table. Measure straight across from armpit to armpit and double it — that is the chest measurement to compare against these charts.

Step 02

Check the length

Measure from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem. This is the single number that decides whether a shirt looks right untucked.

Step 03

Round up, not down

Between two sizes, take the larger. Cotton loses a little on the first wash, and a boy will grow into the difference within a season.

Fit note. These are garment measurements, not body measurements — a shirt listed at a 40-inch chest is built for a body of roughly 38 inches, leaving room to move. Kurtas run 4 to 6 inches longer than shirts at every size.

Age is a shorthand, not a measurement. Children of the same age vary by several inches, and Indian makers do not size identically. Measure a garment your child already wears and match the chest figure — it is far more reliable than the age on the label. Where two ranges would both work, take the larger.

Reading a 32 x 32. Where a product lists two numbers, the first is the waist and the second the inseam — the inside leg from crotch to hem. Measure a pair you already wear flat, and compare both numbers rather than only the waist. Rigid denim relaxes about half an inch at the waist after a fortnight of wear.
